Summer Break

Every year the kids look forward to summer break. This year I feel like I was looking forward to it more than them. After having to drive to 2 different schools every day, I couldn’t wait until the end of school. I like to plan things to do over summer break, but this year was different. An unexpected trip early in the summer derailed other plans I would have made. Therefore, we spent most of summer break at home. I did have one of the kids in a summer program, which made me drive every day again. LOL. The hardest thing to do is keep the kids busy over summer break. Do you let them lay around and do nothing or put them in a summer program. I have begun letting them do nothing. Even though the summer program is good for them and their continuity of learning, it still requires me to drop them off and pick them up, so I don’t truly get a break. On the other hand, having them stay at home can be an inconvenience. I work from home, and they can sometimes be a distraction. We are not even going to talk about the extra food eaten. LOL. I think going forward, they will have summer jobs, and hopefully I won’t have to take them and pick them up.
